Synchr is $99 per month?! Yikes!
Harvest folks,
I like Harvest, and unfortunately, I have to use Quickbooks Online. One of the reasons I chose Harvest, was that Synchr (in beta at the time), promised a $20/month continuing fee.
That’s all changed now — they now want to charge $99 for their syncing service between Harvest and QuickBooks Online! That is atrociously high!!
Harvest, you MUST develop and support your own middle layer, because I for one, cannot afford to use Harvest if it means I need to buy a $99 interface service, which costs more than Harvest AND Quickbooks put together!!
A happy user, who just got sticker shock.
Tell me about it! We were equally shocked. I’ll add your vote to our QB integration request. Thanks for using Harvest!
Yeah, please. We LOVE Harvest, but with this issue we are having to look for other solution as well. Please, keep us posted of any efforts on this area. Quickbooks online integration is a key requirement for us. Thanks!
A follow up — Syncr has failed miserably for us this month, and simply HASN’T SYNCED AT ALL since December 11! I can’t even begin to explain how frustrating this is to us.
We’re left in the position of having to try out other tools like [Freshbooks + Outright] instead of [Harvest + Syncr + QBO]. Needless to say, this is not an easy transition, and once we decide one way or the other, it’s got to be a permanent move.
I’m not happy at all about it, and I feel that Harvest missed a beat by allowing some rinky-dink provider build the critical middle-ware between Harvest and QBO.
Extremely Frustrated!
Thanks for getting in touch! Sorry for the frustration.
We really have no control over who decides to integrate with Harvest via our API. We publish our API so that other developers can build onto Harvest as they wish, but because the API is a public document, there’s no way that we can control who decides to use it.
I realize that that doesn’t help your situation, but hopefully it explains a bit about Harvest and 3rd-party services.
Not sure what Syncr’s pricing model is. I also signed up for $20 per month. I suggested to syncr that they have different pricing levels for different types of harvest/qbo customers. I’m sure for some larger users $99 is in relation to their harvest/qbo pricing. For me, it’s more than both combined. You’d think that the syncr would at least create the payables for things like subcontractor invoices and expenses. Seems to me like they’re taking advantage of the initial customers who beta tested their product. Is it ignorance or arrogance?
We haven’t received any comments from Syncr about the price increase, but my guess is that the price increase may come from the extra workload required just dealing and working with Quickbooks. In our experience, it’s not a very 3rd-party-friendly application to support.
That’s my guess!
I’m not happy at all about it, and I feel that Harvest missed a beat by allowing some rinky-dink provider build the critical middle-ware between Harvest and QBO.
Thanks for the comments folks.
We built a native integration with QuickBooks (desktop edition) that’s baked in to Harvest. QuickBooks online emerged later and a reasonable 3rd party integration was developed so we de-prioritized it.
That said, if this has left a lot of people in a lurch, write in to us at support@harvestapp.com. We’ve got an open feature request for native QB online support, but it’s hard to gauge how many people are interested in that unless you give us a shout!
We currently making a survey to figure out how many customers are looking to have Harvest to QuickBooks sync.
We developed the app SyncBooks that syncs invoices and payments between FreshBooks and desktop QuickBooks.
We looking to know how many of you need similar app for Harvest to QuickBooks sync. The QuickBooks desktop will be supportet in first phase, but if there is substantial demand, QB oline will be supported as well.
We strongly believe, that syncing Timesheets with QB is overkill.
Let’s every system to do what it does best:
Harvest – Timesheets, Invoices, and Payments (especially online ones)!
QuickBooks – the accounting!
Please visit us at SyncBooks for Harvest
And the last but not least – or price is very competitive!
I too am very interested in a Harvest and Quickbooks Online Integration. I’m very happy with Harvest, but spend a bunch of unnecessary time at the end of the month transferring my time from Harvest to Quickbooks. Please implement this feature.
