Expense receipts - am i missing something?
When I include expenses with an invoice, the receipt I attached to the expense does not get included with the PDF? Am I missing something? I want the receipt included, of course, but it looks like I’d have to email it on my own, outside of Harvest, which is impractical.
Hi @macsamurai – No, you’re not missing anything. Right now, you can’t add attachments to invoices. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Quick question, though: how do you see this interaction working? Automatic upload when you include expenses? Attaching a separate document? Something else?
Cheers!
Samara
Glad you asked :) Having it work automatically would be preferable, of course. Via a checkbox, just like “include PDF invoice with email” option that’s already there.
The receipt is already uploaded and already exists within Harvest, so in my mind, when I invoice for expenses or time+expenses, the receipt I already uploaded when I created the expense (better yet, the actual expense report) should be emailed along with the PDF of the invoice itself. I do see that when I print an expense report for myself, the receipt copy is included. But the client has more use for that than I do. After all, I already have the receipt since I’m the one who incurred the original expense!
But if that’s not doable for some reason, the option to re-upload and attach from the “send invoice” screen would be fine too – not ideal, as it means I’d need to have a copy of that receipt I already uploaded handy, but that would still be preferable to my having to email it separately outside of Harvest.
Make sense?
Hi @ macsamurai – Thanks so much for your ideas on how this would work. Feedback like this is incredibly helpful when we are building features. Cheers!
Based on the choice made on the invoice type criteria Based on project hours and expenses Harvest knows whether to include expenses or not.
If the user chooses to Include uninvoiced expenses from in the 3. Expenses block, Harvest could display a query to Include the expense report and receipts with the invoice.
When the user selects to Send, Print or Generate PDF, Harvest would include both the invoice and expense report with receipts as one document.
Just another vote — This is a critical feature for me. Not sure I would have bought on if I knew it was missing.
Hi @mikeorren and @abel acuna – I’ve added both of your names to our feature request list. Thanks for checking in!
Very important functionality. I don’t really understand why most people would take the time to upload receipts to Harvest without being able to attach them to invoices. If they’re already in the system, then it totally makes sense for them to be compiled in the PDF, or at a minimum added as additional PDFs when the invoice is sent out.
Please add this!
Hi @sterlingz – I agree, it would be very helpful if you could attach receipts to an invoice, and I’ll add your comments to our feature request list. To be honest, we have a few other things in the works before we attack this issue, but it is something on our radar. Cheers!
+1, adding receipts that consultants uploaded to the expense page – we should have the option of including that in the Invoice – a meer check box and by staff (as for some staff members – clients do not pay expenses and I still need my consultants to upload expenses to keep track internally but unbillable to the client)
This feature of attaching receipts ia MUST-HAVE for Invoices and I hope harvester can fix this soon.
Cheers
Sri.
I agree, this feature is a must-have, especially considering that we already have the ability to attach and upload the receipt to the system.
Pretty sure I’ve +1’ed this elsewhere in the forum, but having not seen it implemented yet, I’ll keep adding to the request list. This is such a must-have feature for all the reasons already stated!
Especially since the initial request was 10 months ago. C’mon, Harvest, help us out!
And if I’m completely missing something and this feature has been integrated, feel free to throw it in my face. =)
Hi @Andrew Coakley, @snavalpa, @CetrasoftLLC, and @jefftovar – Thanks for your feedback. I’m adding all of your names to our feature request list for this. To be perfectly candid, this isn’t something upcoming in our development cycle, but we do understand it’d be valuable to you guys, and we’ll keep it in mind for our future work on the invoices section. Cheers!
+1 and bump for this.
Plain and simple – clients require receipts.
How many customers do you think you are missing out on or losing because of this one missing vital option? What’s your retention rate on paid plans after the 30 day trial?
Without the option to include receipts, it renders the option to send an invoice from Harvest nearly useless as the invoice PDF has to be downloaded and the receipts attached manually, then manually emailed to the clients. I found Harvest in my effort to simplify my invoicing. It has such great potential, but having to manually download invoices and attach receipts then mail is just about as much work as managing my invoices in excel. I may still continue to use the service, but I would never recommend the service to anyone else because of this – and from a marketing standpoint, if your users can’t recommend your service, that is a huge loss of potential revenue for Harvest.
My comment above may sound angry, but it’s really not. Harvest is a nice service that is unfortunately nearly crippled by the incomprehensible omission of this one simple feature.
Thanks for providing this forum for feedback, and for listening to your users on ways to help improve the service!
Hi, I am Kathrina from Orlando. As for photo editing app for Windows Phone 7, I would suggest PonyPhoto Editor. It works perfect on my HD7. I really love it. haha.
@FutureBoy: Sorry for the frustration! As Samara said, we do keep track of these requests and we’ll add your feedback and votes to the list.
I realize that sometimes it must seem like an essential feature is being ignored, but they’re really not. In this case, this is a rare request that we are continuing to monitor.
Our number of post-trial conversions is very high, and I can only assume that the other many powerful features of Harvest must be the reason for Harvest’s ongoing success. I hope that helps!
For future feature requests, please email support@harvestapp.com. Thank you!
