Changing hourly rate

Avatar

I am going to change my hourly rate next year. I am concerned that once I do, all of my activities in Harvest will adjust to the new rate. However, I want to keep 2010 activities at the old rate and 2010 activities at the new rate.

Will the new rate apply retroactively (don’t want this to happen?) Or only from the date on which the rate is changed going forward?

Thanks!

You’ll need to configure new projects (or tasks within the projects) with your new hourly rate and start entering time against those. Changing the hourly rate of existing projects/tasks will change the rate (and reports) for existing time entries on those projects/tasks (however, it should not impact invoices already created).

This is an urgent concern of ours as well. In addition to updating rates annually, we have the same issue when just a single staff member receives a promotion or title change and has a corresponding rate adjustment at some point during the year. Creating/duplicating new projects each time this happens is disruptive. Further, a workaround that involves creating/duplicating projects eliminates the benefit of the dashboard view of a project’s run rate to date against the budget. And it would not allow us to run one cohesive report for a client on hours/expenses incurred to date on the project.

Please offer fix as soon as possible!!

Hi @greg, We’re aware of the problem caused by switching employee rates and changes in historical records. I can’t offer you a timeline as to when we’ll change how we handle this, but it is on our radar.

Cheers,
Samara

I’d like to request this feature as well.

Hi guys, this is an urgent problem for me as well. There are multiple help topics open essentially requesting the same, so I hope this moves up on your priority list.

Thanks,

Roger

Hi @kawika and @rpghtan, I’ve added you both to our feature request list for this. We’ve got a few other things we’re working on before this moves up the list, but thanks for checking in..
