Reports possibilities

Avatar

We found the report options a bit limited.
It would be very useful if we could generate reports with any parameters and any hierarchal order we wish. To have the possibility to decide which parameters to show in the report and in what order.
Also to be able to generate reports with or without the tax included.

Thanks for the feedback @Yariv, we’ll make a note of it. In the meantime, you can export your reports to Excel (under More Actions > Export to Excel) to manipulate the information in whatever order you would like, and delete columns you would not like to see.

@Karen: I think it’s worth showing Harvest users how to utilize Excel’s Pivot Table/Chart feature for reporting on raw Harvest export data — for example, it’s almost trivial to create reports on hours worked per month/year by each person/project/etc.. A blog post on this would be extremely worthwhile.

Hi Karen,

Thanks for your answer.
You know, we so much prefer the Harvest reports and using Excel as little as possible, so I hope we ’ll soon have all the option within Harvest.

@Yariv @Jim Unfortunately, we cannot support the flexibility of something like Excel at this time. That said, we’d love to know your specific use cases – “with any parameters and any hierarchal order” is quite a tall order, and I’d like to get a better sense of exactly what you’re requesting.

Are you looking for additional sorting options? Which ones would you utilize most? Variable columns? How so?

Hi Karen: I wasn’t advocating that Harvest implement Excel’s flexibility. I was advocating that you show how your users how to use Excel to great reports on raw Harvest data, using Excel’s Pivot Table and Pivot Chart tools.

@Jim Yes, thanks, I was actually going to email you directly about this – thanks, and I’ll be in touch shortly!

Hi Karen,

Before Harvest we used to work with http://www.actitime.com/
The Actitme is not as powerful as the Harvest, but it’s time report possibilities are great. I can generate any kind of report I wish very easily.
I recommend you to visit its demo and to take a look at its report way of working, to understand what I mean by – any parameters in any order I wish.
