Recurring invoices that pull in time
I like the idea of automatic recurring invoices, but I don’t have many that are fixed dollar amounts each month.
What I’d like is a recurring invoice that pulls in all unbilled time for a client and/or specific job. I have clients that want to be billed monthly, and this would make that process a bit easier.
It would also be handy if I was sent an email anytime a recurring invoice was added to the drafts, reminding me to review and send.

I agree. Recurring invoices for fixed dollar amounts seems almost wholly counter-intuitive to what Harvest is (a dynamic time tracking application).

I agree! We need this feature, badly. For every project, we set a billing period (usually once or twice a month) and need to create invoices for all time worked in that period. This is a very time consuming process for us, right now.
I see this was last discussed in 2009, but this is exactly the feature I’m looking for in order to switch over completely from using Billings3. This would be killer!
Hey Samara: Since you’re making notes about this, I’ll add a couple things:
1) I’d like for each project to have a defined billing period (monthly, every two weeks, etc.). I would want to have the invoice auto-generated at some time delay after the billing period. (I want to bill on the 7th, for all time worked in the previous month). The delay ensures that everyone has entered their time during the billing period in question.
2) I’d like to define an Invoice ID (Naming) convention, like ACME-001, ACME-002, AMCE-003.
3) I want the ability to not have the invoice automatically sent — just automatically created [with a notification email sent to the user who must approve and send the invoice] so that it can be reviewed and approved before being sent.

I agree that this would be quite a blessing. I don’t have a lot of invoices to generate each month, but it’s just one less thing I have to think about.

I know this topic has been asleep for a while now, but I would like to give it a nudge as I don’t see it implemented yet,
This would be a real time saver for me and a lot of others as well I guess.
Please see if you can incorporate something like this.
