Payable invoices
We are a 2+ person small consulting company who regularly hires subcontractors to work with us on multiple projects. At the end of each billing cycle, our subcontractors enter their hours into harvest and then we bill the client for their time and ours. This works great.
But then when the client pays our invoice, we have to pay our subcontractors at their rate.
At the moment I have to tie two lists of invoices together on an excel spreadsheet: receivables and payables, so that when our client pays us an invoice, I have to go look up which subcontractor invoice was tied to that outgoing invoice and then pay them.
I would LOVE to have payable invoices and tie them to billable client invoices so that harvest would tell me to what to pay my contractors.
Any chance of that happening? I think freshbooks does it… but they’re not quite as pretty and charming!
+1
It would be great to have this feature. Contractor accounts should have invoicing functionality available, if only to send us invoices on projects we’ve assigned to them. Alternatively, a way to generate invoices/reports to ourselves (on behalf of contractors) using the hourly rate field in their profile would work as well.
@jlrdouglas @Steve @josh The ability to have dual rates for employees & contractors is a feature on our list. Thanks for letting us know it’s important for your workflow!
In addition to contractors, we just (this week) hired an hourly admin employee. So, we need a pay rate, in addition to a bill rate. And, I’d love to be able to have a good way to keep track of whether we’ve payed hourly workers.
Thanks,
Absolutely +1 for us.
In particular, one of the ways we have thought of it working would be that when an invoice is generated, based on the hours that have been entered, a payable invoice for each contractor (maybe employee, but not for us) would be generated and they are tied to each other.
That would be awesome for our internal accounting and would also be a nice feature to offer our subcontractors to not have to send in invoices.
Thanks very much.
Hi @Ben Weeks, @efarago, @bens, and @hugowren – I’ve added all of your names to our feature request list on this issue. Thanks for your feedback!
+1 for me. Several of my subcontractors are also Harvest users and it would be very helpful to link their invoices to the projects they are working on in our own account.
+1. Please keep mind Harvest folks that I understand that Quickbooks is dropping their time tracking features on Dec. 1st, 2011 (not sure why but it was very limited anyway). The time tracking vendors in the Intuit marketplace are pushing their solutions as a replace for this big hole. Since you already have a solution through Synchr this could be an additional justification for getting this feature in. It would be ideal to have the subcontractor have a secure page to input their time per project and then for the admin to be able to not only generate invoices to the customer but also have the invoice from the subcontractor. 2 different rates for the same work. When I did a search on this in this forum, there seemed to be quite a few different threads/comments all requesting the same feature. When is it coming? :-)
@andyy: Thanks for the suggestions. All good ideas. While we don’t comment on feature timelines, our developers are hard at work improving Harvest on a daily basis. Keep an eye on the blog at www.getharvest.com/blog for important feature announcements.
